Roahrig Continues Berlin Winning Ways

Roahrig Continues Berlin Winning Ways

The 500 Sprint Car Tour has made six appearances at Berlin Raceway in its three and a half year history. Tyler Roahrig now has six 500 Sprint Car Tour wins at Berlin.

The 2023 series champion continued his undefeated streak at the tricky 7/16ths mile oval with his first 500 Tour win of the season to kick off the Auto Value Michigan Swing, adding to his all-time series wins mark.

Just like last year’s 500 Sprint Car Tour event, the Plymouth, IN driver had to work for it.  After setting fast time in group qualifying, he started fifth and quickly worked his way to second before hounding two-time series champion Kody Swanson over several laps.

Roahrig wrestled the lead away on lap 18, but the race was far from over.  Swanson remained on the tail tank of the No.56 for most of the remaining 32 laps through lapped traffic, and at points nearly pulled even.  Roahrig was able to find clean air late and check out over the final laps.

“Man, Kody (Swanson) was fast tonight.  I was getting some gaps in the infield, it sounded like he was right on me the whole time,” Roahrig said on the DirtVision broadcast.  “We have to go to work on it a little bit because he’s definitely picked it up and I was running with my hair on fire the whole race, really.”

Roahrig has considered Berlin a favorite of his over the past few years, and has made visiting victory lane there a frequent habit.  Prior to Saturday, he had already won a pair of Reveal The Hammer Outlaw Super Late Model races at the facility in 2025.  Saturday night’s triumph was his 11th career win at Berlin, coming in three different divisions.

“It was a good, clean race.  I love running here with the 500 Tour.  It was a pretty good night.”

Swanson backed up his win from Winchester with a runner-up.  Kyle O’Gara, Bobby Santos III and Nathan Byrd rounded out the top-five

The Auto Value Michigan Swing continues in two weeks with a weekend doubleheader.  It starts Friday, August 1 at Kalamazoo Speedway before the 500 Sprint Car Tour makes its first-ever appearance at Owosso Speedway on Saturday night, August 2.
