Monroe Asphalt 40 Brings Stars of Pavement Sprint Car Racing to Toledo Speedway

The YourBIGPlans.com 500 Sprint Car Tour returns to action this Sunday, June 14, as a talented field of pavement sprint car competitors converges on Toledo Speedway for the Monroe Asphalt 40.

The event marks the Tour's return to the fast half-mile oval and features a lineup loaded with proven winners, championship contenders, Little 500 standouts, and rising stars from across the country.

Leading the field is defending Monroe Asphalt 40 winner Bobby Santos III of Franklin, Massachusetts. Santos captured victory in the 2025 event at Toledo Speedway and will return looking to defend his Toledo crown. One of the most accomplished pavement sprint car racers in the nation, Santos has enjoyed success on some of the biggest stages in short-track racing and will once again be among the favorites when the green flag drops Sunday afternoon.

Another major storyline centers around reigning Little 500 champion Kody Swanson. The Kingsburg, California driver enters Toledo fresh off his victory in the 78th Annual Unified Group Services Little 500 presented by Ed Martin Automotive Group. Swanson's latest triumph added another chapter to his legendary Little 500 career and further cemented his status as one of the most successful pavement sprint car drivers of his generation. With momentum on his side, Swanson will be seeking his first Monroe Asphalt 40 victory since 2023.

Indiana's strong contingent of competitors will be well represented throughout the field. Alexandria's Rob Keesling, Yorktown's Donnie Adams Jr., Waldron's Tony McVey, Denver's Justin Harper, Greenfield's Rylan Gray, and Camby's Kyle O'Gara all bring extensive experience and the ability to contend for a podium finish.

O'Gara remains one of the most respected competitors in pavement sprint car racing and has consistently been a threat at major events throughout the Midwest. Keesling and Adams have each demonstrated speed on the Tour, while Gray continues to establish himself among the next generation of pavement sprint car talent.

Ohio drivers Olivia Shelbo of London and Jackson Macenko of Cincinnati will enjoy a home-state advantage as they look to capitalize on familiar surroundings. Shelbo continues to gain experience against some of the sport's toughest competition, while Macenko has emerged as one of the promising young talents on the pavement sprint car scene.

The field also features competitors from across the nation, including Colville, Washington's Chris Schmelzle and Taylorsville, North Carolina's Brady Allum. Nathan Byrd and Derek Bischak round out a diverse and competitive roster that showcases the growing reach of the YourBIGPlans.com 500 Sprint Car Tour.

Toledo Speedway's unique characteristics have consistently produced exciting racing for pavement sprint cars. The high-banked half-mile rewards patience, tire conservation, and racecraft while still providing opportunities for drivers to make bold moves in traffic. With only 40 laps to settle the outcome, drivers will be forced to balance aggression and strategy from the opening green flag.

As the 2026 season continues to unfold, every race carries added significance in the battle for valuable championship points. A strong finish at Toledo can provide momentum heading into the heart of the summer schedule, making Sunday's Monroe Asphalt 40 a critical event for drivers with championship aspirations.

With the defending race winner returning, the reigning Little 500 champion in the field, and a talented group of challengers eager to claim one of the Tour's marquee victories, fans can expect another thrilling chapter in 500 Sprint Car Tour competition.

The Monroe Asphalt 40 takes place Sunday, June 14, at Toledo Speedway as the stars of the YourBIGPlans.com 500 Sprint Car Tour battle for victory on one of the Midwest's premier short tracks.
