Brady Allum Ready to Fight for Rookie of the Year

Brady Allum, an 18 year old racer from Taylorsville, North Carolina has committed to running the entire 2024 500 Sprint Car Tour season. Allum, a third generation racer, will be the fourth driver to throw his hat into the ring to compete for 500 Sprint Car Tour Rookie of the Year in 2024. Along with committing to the full season, Allum and his team have also entered their #87 Gen 3 Motorsports sprint car into the 76th Annual Little 500 presented by UAW.

“Going into my first season and running for Rookie of the Year has been very exciting and stressful,” Allum stated. “I am looking forward to running the full season including the Little 500 and competing at the highest level we can.”

Gen 3 Motorsports is a family owned team with the name deriving from Brady being a third generation racer. Brady’s grandfather, George Allum, was a racer in the 1960’s and he brought a love of the sport to the family. Brady’s dad, and George's son, Chad Allum was also a racer and fabricator. Chad continues to help Brady with his racing career as they continue their family legacy.

Allum began his racing career at the age of seven when he began racing quarter midgets. Racing at a national level with the United States Auto Club (USAC), Allum started rising through the ranks with an impressive number of podiums and wins. In 2017, Allum won the USAC Southeast Regional Dixie Shootout Series Championship. In 2019, he won the Cookout Challenge Series Championship. Beginning in 2021, Allum started racing full size midgets on a full-time basis where he finished third in the USAC Eastern Midget Series point standings. His career really took off in 2023 when he won three races in three different disciplines of racing.

“I did not expect my career to move this quickly,” Allum said when asked why the time was right to switch to full time pavement sprint car racing. “We were competing for a Midget Championship in 2023 and had a bad wreck. That wreck ruined the season for us, so we shifted our focus to sprint cars. We have had the pedal down ever since then to get to this point.”

Less than two years ago, Allum sat in the Anderson Speedway grandstands and witnessed the historic Little 500 for the first time alongside his father. He made a goal for himself, and a promise to his dad, that in three years time, the family would be entering a car into the Little 500. Now, with the 76th Annual Little 500 presented by UAW in his sights, Allum is looking forward to accomplishing that goal and fulfilling a promise.

“I was running at Anderson in a midget a couple years ago and we came back to watch the Little 500,” Allum recalled. “I fell in love with the sprint cars and the competitiveness/technique of running them around Anderson Speedway. We made the goal of coming back in three years to be able to compete in the race and now here we are less than two years later.”

Gen 3 Motorsports and Brady Allum will begin their quest for 500 Sprint Car Tour Rookie of the Year on Saturday, April 6th when the series heads to Anderson Speedway for the 24th Running of the Glen Niebel Classic. The race will be used as a tune up race for the 76th Annual Little 500 presented by UAW, but it is also the first chance teams have to see where they stand after a long offseason. Allum will be looking for a chance to not only set himself apart from the other rookies in the field, but to also establish himself as a perennial contender for race wins.

The 2024 500 Sprint Car Tour season will see nine points earning events across a ten race schedule from early April to mid October. The 76th Annual Little 500 will once again be a non-points earning event for the series, filling out the ten race schedule in its traditional Memorial Day Weekend slot.
