Championship Push in Full Swing as Tour Heads to Anderson
The 500 Sprint Car Tour returns to Anderson Speedway for the final time in 2025 as the Championship battle heats up with only two races left in the season. Dakoda Armstrong currently maintains a 25-point lead over Bobby Santos III in the season point standings. Two-time tour champion, Kody Swanson, is currently in third place with a 52-point deficit. The 10th Annual Tony Elliott Classic, on Saturday, October 5th, will set up an intense Championship battle going into the final weekend of the 2025 season.
Dakoda Armstrong has been an Anderson Speedway merchant as of late. Armstrong has won two straight events at Anderson Speedway, and has won three straight Tony Elliott Classic’s. Armstrong also won the most recent event at Salem Speedway to take control of first place in the points standings. He will be the driver to watch as he looks to not only extend, but protect, his championship lead in hopes of winning his first 500 Sprint Car Tour Championship.
The 2025 Rookie of The Year battle has the potential to take its final form at the Tony Elliott Classic, as Brady Allum maintains a healthy 100-point lead over Matt Dimit. Allum also sits in 9th place in the championship standings and will be looking to maintain, or improve, that position to be the third straight Rookie to finish in the top 10 (Nathan Byrd ‘24, Jackson Macenko ‘23). Matt Dimit is not currently entered into the Tony Elliott Classic on Saturday, October 4th, giving Allum a prime opportunity to all but lock up the 2025 Rookie of the Year battle.
Some new faces will be hitting the track for the 500 Sprint Car Tour as Colin Grissom and Tony McVey will be making their series debuts. Grissom is an Anderson, Indiana native and has competed in Anderson Speedway’s local divisions for many years. He currently has one Little 500 start under his belt, when he became the 2024 Little 500 Rookie of the Year. Grissom recently purchased a non-wing sprint car from Travis Welpott, to begin his own sprint car outfit. McVey, from Waldron, Indiana, recently purchased a non-wing sprint car that was previously raced by Quintin Saayman in multiple 500 Sprint Car Tour events. McVey tested his newly acquired, and rebuilt, car at Anderson Speedway last week, and was able to work out some kinks. He will be ready to go for his first 500 Sprint Car Tour start this Saturday.
The 10th Annual Tony Elliott Classic presented by CB Fabricating is set for this Saturday, October 4th to close out the Anderson Speedway schedule.
