Kody Swanson Secures Third Sprint Car Tour Title
The resume continues to build for Kody Swanson as he has added a third yourBIGplans.com 500 Sprint Car Tour Championship to his list of accomplishments. Swanson, the Tour Champion in 2022 and 2024, capped off his 2026 championship campaign with a second place finish in the season finale at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. The championship marks his second driving for Nick Bohanon after securing his first championship with Doran Binks Racing.
The 2026 season saw Swanson visit victory lane three times at Anderson Speedway, Salem Speedway, and most recently at Toledo Speedway. Swanson also won the non points earning Little 500 for the 4th time in his historic career. In addition to his three Tour victories in 2026, Swanson also amassed seven top three finishes and three runner up finishes. Swanson led a total of 210 laps across four different events, and set the fastest time in qualifying once at Salem Speedway. In total, Swanson never finished worse than third in any event and put together, arguably, the most consistent championship run in Tour history.
Swanson entered the final race of the 2026 season holding a 104-point advantage over Jackson Macenko in the championship standings, putting the Kingsburg, California, native in position to clinch the title. Macenko had his career best year with the yourBIGpans.com 500 Sprint Car with his highest finish in the points standings, and with his first career win at Winchester Speedway. The consistency of Swanson throughout the year proved to be the deciding factor as Macenko was unable to substantially close the gap over the Tour’s final races.
The 38-year-old California native continues to transcend open-wheel racing in the 21st century. His dominance in the USAC Silver Crown Series has rewritten the history books, earning eight championships and 45 victories.
His non-wing sprint car accolades include four Little 500 victories, three 500 Sprint Car Tour championships, and nine Tour wins, ranking second all-time. His success has extended to winged sprint car racing as well. He is a two-time winner of the Open Wheel Showdown in Las Vegas and finished second in the Race for the Million standings after capturing the victory at Owosso.
With another series champion crowned, the yourBIGplans.com 500 Sprint Car Tour has officially wrapped up its fifth season of competition.
The 2026 season marked the first year of yourBIGplans.com as the series’ title sponsor, and the company will return in that role for 2027. The Tour also completed its first season with Racing America as the official streaming home for all events, and Racing America will return as the series’ streaming partner in 2027.
A total of 36 different non-wing pavement sprint cars competed on the Tour in 2026, with four drivers making their career debuts with the series. With the 2026 season officially in the books, attention now turns to 2027. Announcements regarding the upcoming schedule and events are expected in the coming weeks.
