Roahrig Completes Auto Value Michigan Swing Sweep With Third Straight Win
Tyler Roahrig and 500 Sprint Car Tour victory lane visits in the state of Michigan seem inevitable.
The 2023 series champion completed a clean sweep of the Auto Value Michigan Swing. Saturday night, winning the 50-lap feature in the series’ first-ever visit to Mid-Michigan’s Owosso Speedway just one night after picking up a victory at Kalamazoo Speedway.
Roahrig redrew the pole for the second straight night after qualifying second. The race started in similar fashion, with him dropping to second at the initial start. He passed Bobby Santos III for the lead on lap nine, and the rest was history.
Contrary to the norm, Roahrig welcomed a caution with 12 laps to go with heavy lapped traffic looming and Auto Value Pole Award winner Kyle O’Gara running him down.
“I think starting position was key. I was happy to see the caution with 12 to go because I knew Kyle (O’Gara) was catching me. I knew he was fast, I saw in practice just how fast they were and luckily I didn’t have to go through that big group of lapped traffic we were catching when the caution came out,” Roahrig said in victory lane. “That was my saving grace.”
“It was a great weekend for us, we got to take home some money. That’s a big thing for our team. We made a lot of changes during practice and we unloaded not very good.
It’s rare that you can get it to where you want it in just two practices, so I’m proud of our team.”
A third consecutive win has helped extend Roahrig’s point lead with three races left in the 2025 season. He now sits in the catbird seat for a second 500 Sprint Car Tour title.
“That would be big. We’ve been really fortunate to be really successful in this series and it’s a joy to race with the series. They make it a lot of fun and there’s a lot of cars.
It makes a difference to me when you can draw a lot of cars and a lot of fans.”
Kyle O’Gara and Kody Swanson claimed the remaining two podium spots for the second night in a row. Bobby Santos III and Dakoda Armstrong swapped positions from Friday night to round out the top-five.
The 500 Sprint Car Tour heads to Salem Speedway for the rescheduled Joe James/Pat O’Connor Memorial on Saturday, September 13.
